Man Utd earn first win of the WSL season against West Ham

Manchester United secured their first WSL league win of the 2026/27 season against West Ham, with goals from Elisabeth Terland and Andrea Medina. After a difficult start for manager Eva Olid—taking over in the summer from Marc Skinner—the Red Devils had earlier suffered a 10-1 thrashing of Sheffield United midweek, but then finally earned three league points. United led just under 10 minutes in when Anna Sandberg’s corner from the left found Terland free to head in. The first half was fairly balanced, with Kelly Gago and Viviane Asseyi prominent for West Ham and Helen Lundkvist making a key opportunity late before the break. United dominated after halftime, and Medina added the second goal in the 72nd minute. A penalty was awarded after Asseyi went down under a challenge from Sandberg, converted by Phallon Tullis-Joyce, making the final stretch tense with five minutes of stoppage time; United held on to win 2-1.
