Man Utd in race with Champions League club to hire Julian Nagelsmann
Manchester United may need to move quickly in the managerial market as reports link Julian Nagelsmann to Old Trafford, with another Champions League club also said to be interested. The German coach is considered a leading option if Michael Carrick is dismissed after a poor start: United have won only two of their first 11 matches across all competitions. Carrick is due to coach Sunday’s Premier League game against Bournemouth, but Bruno Fernandes publicly criticized his tactics after a 4-1 defeat at Como on Wednesday. Unai Emery and Eddie Howe are also liked at United, while Fabian Hurzeler and Antonio Conte distanced themselves from the role. Nagelsmann, 39, has been out of work since resigning from Germany in July, and RB Leipzig is reportedly “strongly interested” as well. Leipzig began the season with three wins and three losses.
