Marc Bernal has already responded to Manchester United's interest
Marc Bernal has reportedly responded to Manchester United’s interest by indicating he is staying at Barcelona, despite United’s efforts to add midfield depth this summer. Manchester United finished the 2025/26 Premier League season third, using a midfield pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro, but Casemiro left Old Trafford for a new challenge, opening a need for reinforcements. While a report circulated that Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami could be a destination for Casemiro, United continue to monitor other options, including Atalanta midfielder Ederson and the uncertain situation around Manuel Ugarte. Mundo Deportivo reports that United were among multiple clubs enquiring about Marc Bernal in the January window and again during the most recent window, but Barcelona decided to keep him. Bernal rose through La Masia, debuted in 2024/25, suffered an ACL injury early on that sidelined him for almost a year, and returned to help Barcelona win LaLiga and the Supercopa de España. The 19-year-old Spaniard scored five goals and provided one assist in 33 appearances across all competitions, and is contracted at Camp Nou until 2029.
