Men Build Connections on 'L'Dor V'Dor at the Shore' Fishing Trip
Yotam Shmargad, 42, joined the Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona (JPSA) “L’Dor V’Dor at the Shore” fishing trip for community connection as much as for catching an ocean whitefish. Coordinated by JPSA Young Leadership Manager Nate Weisband, the weekend in San Diego ran Oct. 2–4 and brought 33 men from different generations. Shmargad said the intergenerational format helped him learn about the Tucson Jewish community’s history and gain perspectives from older participants he doesn’t usually meet. Tom Warne, a real estate developer and 2017 trip alumnus, highlighted how well young men bonded and listened. The group also took part in Simchat Torah at Chabad of Coronado and attended a breakfast with Israeli artist Uri Sharon and other participants.
