MLS Investigates Inter Miami Over Casemiro Transfer
MLS is investigating allegations of tampering involving Inter Miami after the club signed Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, according to a league announcement reported by BBC Sport. Inter Miami confirmed the 34-year-old has signed through the end of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend until June 2029. Soon after the signing, MLS said it began reviewing a complaint tied to the transfer, focusing specifically on Casemiro’s discovery rights—an MLS rule granting the first negotiation opportunity to the club holding those rights. MLS stated it will gather relevant information and will not comment further until the review concludes, with the club-to-club agreement terms remaining undisclosed during the process. Inter Miami said it acquired the discovery rights from LA Galaxy before finalizing the deal. Casemiro left Manchester United after both sides agreed not to renew his contract, finishing with 160 appearances, 26 goals, and 14 assists, and victories in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
