More than 160,000 pounds of meat bearing false USDA inspection labels recalled

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is recalling more than 167,000 pounds (75,750 kilograms) of raw pork, beef and goat shipped nationwide by Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in Lucama, North Carolina. The recall affects products that, according to the USDA, were not properly inspected by federal authorities and left the facility with falsified inspection stickers. The agency said the total could increase as its investigation continues. USDA warned that meat produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants. So far, it said there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injuries linked to the recall.
