Mullin's Wrexham journey ends - timeline of a cult hero
Paul Mullin’s departure from Wrexham marks the end of a key chapter for the club, where the striker was described as a talismanic figure. Across 172 games in all competitions, Mullin scored 110 goals, becoming a cult favorite among supporters known as the Stok Cae Ras faithful. The 31-year-old also featured prominently in the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary series, and helped the team win promotion from the National League to the Championship in back-to-back seasons. Before the most recent campaign, his contract ran until summer 2027, but Wrexham confirmed a mutual termination. The timeline recalls his early Wrexham impact after joining on a free transfer in July 2021, including scoring on debut and goals in matches where co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds were present. In 2023-24, he spent the prior season out on loan, contributing limited appearances and goals. Wrexham thanked him for his “enormous contribution.”
