Munition blast during school trip kills student in Israel, and other Mideast developments
An explosion involving unexploded ordnance killed a teenage student and injured 24 others during a school trip along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon on Monday, Israeli authorities and rescue workers said. The Israeli military believes the munition belonged to Hezbollah and said an initial examination suggested it had been left in the area. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the circumstances are under investigation, while Israel’s Magen David Adom reported two seriously injured people. Elsewhere in the region, Saudi state-run media reported a response to drone and cruise missile attacks launched from Yemen. Houthi sources said airstrikes in Sanaa and northern Yemen killed 10 and wounded 19, with one strike reported targeting a salt factory.
