Near no-hitter is big-game effort Greater Bay needed for Little League district title coverage. Greater Bay (ages 11-and-under) defeated Bay City Southwest 4-0 in the district championship at St. Hyacinth Field in Bay County Eastside, securing another trip to the state tournament. Coach Aaron Craves credited timely execution after a smooth pool stage, when the all-star squad outscored opponents 61-3, including a 10-0 mercy win over Southwest. Colin Bartlett powered the title game with a complete-game one-hitter, striking out five and walking two, while Southwest’s Colton Weiss delivered a solid start before breaking up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the sixth. Greater Bay added single runs in the second and third innings and two insurance runs in the final frame. The team heads to Alpena for the state tournament July 17-22.
