Eric Cole surged to a season-best 7-under 63 on Saturday, placing him in the 54-hole lead at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial in Fort Worth. He moved to 12-under 198, one stroke ahead of Ryan Gerard, who finished his round of 68 at 11-under 199 as the final group completed. Cole began quickly, birdying four of his first eight holes, and his only bogey came on the back nine sandwiched between two birdies. Mac Meissner fired a 67 and J.J. Spaun, a 68, leaving them two back at 10-under 200.
