Border Report Live: Pastor denounces child detention at US Capitol rally
Border Report Live covered an immigration rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., where Pastor Dianne Garcia urged Congress to end funding for ICE and close the Dilley family detention center. Garcia, from Cristiana Roca de Refugio Church in San Antonio, described the action as a National Day of Action and highlighted congregants arrested by ICE during mandatory check-ins. The event, organized by the National Coalition to End Family Child Detention and the Read Them Home initiative, drew a couple hundred protesters near Union Square, with U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal speaking and stories read aloud by detained children. Organizers displayed 620 paper dolls and stuffed bears representing 6,200 detained children since January 2025, underscoring a broader appeal for policy change.
