Oahu father, daughter plan 'crazy' trip for Morocco's World Cup match
A father and daughter from ʻEwa Beach are planning a “crazy” trip to watch Morocco’s World Cup Round of 16 match in person. Chakib Benachour will travel with his daughter, Yasmina, to Houston to cheer on the Moroccan National Team against Canada, after the round begins Saturday. Yasmina said the opportunity is something she has dreamed of, highlighting their shared routines in Hawaii, including daily gym visits, and framed the trip as a chance to celebrate together. Chakib, who has lived in Hawaii for more than two decades after moving from Morocco, described the trip as a way to represent the “808 state” and bring “Aloha” spirit. He also said the logistics were handled as a team within two hours of planning, with Yasmina arranging tickets and the flight and Chakib covering lodging and other needs.
