Paid Protesters, CNN's Access Battle, and the Right to Disrupt |...

A discussion episode by Sam Bushman and Curt Crosby focuses on a rally in Texas for Ken Paxton and the disruption allegedly caused by paid protesters, along with questions about whether President Trump can maintain the “moral high ground” during conflict. The hosts break down a First Amendment distinction between peaceably assembling and disrupting, argue that Trump should “follow the money” and pursue those funding rent-a-riot operations, and address how media coverage may have misrepresented events, including an Associated Press video that they say was unusually long. They also discuss legal efforts by CNN and Politico to retain White House access and criticize the idea of the press corps remaining essential amid changing technology.
