Phillies' Alan Rangel: In rotation to begin second half - CBS Sports

Phillies right-hander Alan Rangel is set to start Sunday’s game against the Mets in Philadelphia, giving him a chance to open the second half of the season in the rotation. The club had optioned Rangel to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on July 2, then recalled him last week to fill a need for a fifth starter before the All-Star break. Philadelphia plans to keep him in the rotation at the start of the second half, but his longer-term role could change if the Phillies acquire another starter before the Aug. 3 trade deadline or recall Andrew Painter from Triple-A. Through his first five MLB appearances (two starts), the 28-year-old has posted a 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and a 22:9 K:BB ratio in 19.1 innings.
