Rating the Welsh club's start to 2026-27 season in URC and Europe

Cardiff, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets are heading into November breaks after finishing the first block of the 2026-27 domestic season. The United Rugby Championship pauses while Nations Championship rounds are played, and Cardiff and Dragons lead the URC standings on 14 points. Cardiff sit seventh, slightly ahead on wins, after a 26-0 win over Ospreys in Swansea to cap a mixed run. The victory followed a poor showing at the Arms Park against Sharks, where the club had a five-day turnaround after losing to Northampton. Lock Josh McNally backed the group’s alignment, and Taine Basham impressed at No. 8. Dragons, meanwhile, avoided slip-ups against Zebre, despite missing 18 players for Wales calls and injuries.
