Refugee 'invited' asylum seeker pal to help rape girl, 18, they met in UK club
A Syrian refugee identified as Dilgash Adil, 32, has been jailed after inviting an asylum-seeker acquaintance to help rape an 18-year-old girl, following a trial at Chester Crown Court. Prosecutors said Adil plied the victim with alcohol until she was “falling down” drunk after meeting her in a nightclub. He then lured her to accommodation in a multiple-occupancy house (HMO) in Winsford, Cheshire, where he assaulted her, before inviting his friend, Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28, to also rape her. Both men received 11-year prison sentences each for rape and were ordered to sign the sex offender register indefinitely. The court heard Adil received refugee status after arriving in the UK in 2020, while Abdulsalm’s asylum claim was under assessment at the time of the offences in December 2023.
