Rescue crews searching sailing club lake as teen is missing in the water
Rescue crews and police officers searched a lake popular with sailors after reports a teenager entered the water in Syston, Leicestershire. Officers were positioned near the entrance to Syston Sailing Club, with three police cars observed, and search units were summoned to the site. Police entered the water shortly after 6:15pm on Thursday (June 25), and an ambulance was seen nearby, according to LeicestershireLive. The police said the operation may continue “for some time,” with support teams on scene. A spokesperson stated that emergency services were searching at Meynell Lake in Fosse Way, after police were called just after 1:30pm. Searches involved coordination with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, and officers were in contact with the boy’s next of kin. The incident comes during an amber heat warning, with forecasts exceeding 30°C and a rare red warning for parts of the Midlands and south of England.
