RuPaul says drag spoof 'Stop! That! Train!' is a 'political statement'

RuPaul frames Stop! That! Train! as more than a spoof, presenting it as a political statement about satire and culture. The movie, directed by Adam Shankman, opens in theaters on June 12 and features an all-star Drag Race cast, including Ginger Minj as Tess and Jujubee as DeeDee. The story follows two train stewards who lose their jobs on the dingy Stank Rail and join the glamorous Glamazonian Express, only to confront a hurricane-like catastrophe dubbed a Stormaganza. Told with sight gags, pop-culture riffs and irreverent humor, the R-rated comedy also packs celebrity cameos and rapid-fire one-liners that have become a drag-forward signature. RuPaul Charles, 65, describes the project as more than a joke, insisting the humor emerges from the characters’ humanity amid chaos.
