San Jose protests the 250 years of U.S. endless wars

San Jose staged a protest and march on Friday, July 3, opposing what organizers described as the U.S.’s “endless investment and participation in war” globally over the past 250 years. Around two dozen people gathered at the Dr. MLK Jr. Library and marched through downtown while chanting slogans against war spending and highlighting conflicts including Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and Palestine. Speakers from groups such as Freedom Road Socialist Organization and San Jose Against War argued that tax money and U.S.-made fighter jets are used in operations abroad, including claims about impacts on civilians, medical professionals, and journalists in Lebanon. Other remarks focused on Venezuela and cited accusations that the U.S. holds hostage President Maduro and First Lady Flores, alongside references to Cuba’s embargo. The event concluded with the distribution of zines after a speaker program and continued street chants.
