Santos' historic debut in 1912

On September 15, 1912, Santos Foot-Ball Club made its debut in a historic clash against Santos Athletic Club at Velo Santista, the former pitch of SC Internacional. The match brought together the two clubs sharing the Santos name, with the latter known today as the “Englishmen’s Club.” Santos, which had its headquarters at Largo do Rosário at the time, wore white and blue with gold trim. A young left winger, Arnaldo Silveira (“Miúdo”), scored the fledgling team’s first goal at age 18. Santos won 3-2, with Silveira scoring twice and Adolpho Millon once, while Lee added two for the visitors.
