Seattle, Western WA celebrates '9 to 5' Dolly Parton Day

Seattle and communities across Western Washington are marking Dolly Parton Day on Sept. 25, also known as 9/25, in a tribute that draws from her hit “9 to 5.” The events come about a month after Parton’s death at age 80 from cancer. In Seattle, City Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck proclaimed Dolly Day at a Parton-themed story hour at the Queen Anne Branch of the Seattle Public Library, with King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda leading a similar proclamation. Planned activities include a Dolly-inspired silent disco and a screening of “9 to 5” at Denny Park, plus parties, performances, themed drinks, and donations supporting Parton’s Imagination Library in places like Des Moines, Edmonds, Puyallup, Ballard, and Capitol Hill.
