Sen. John Fetterman rips Sen. Bernie Sanders over endorsements for El-Sayed, Planter
Sen. John Fetterman rips Sen. Bernie Sanders over endorsements for El-Sayed, Planter reports a sharp exchange within Democratic politics focused on candidate endorsements. Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman criticized Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders over Sanders’ support for Graham Platner and Abdul El-Sayed, whose bid is for the U.S. Senate seat in Michigan. The remarks came after a rally involving Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for El-Sayed. Fetterman cited El-Sayed’s comments described as anti-Israel, including an interview reference calling it a “rogue state,” and connected Sanders’ backing to Platner’s campaign, which ended after multiple women accused him of sexual assault and misconduct; Platner denied the allegation that he raped a woman in 2021. The Democratic primary for Michigan is set for Aug. 4, and Fetterman also referenced prior statements warning he would leave the party if it became “the anti-Israel party.”
