Singer Chris Brown Pleads Guilty in UK Nightclub Attack
Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty in London to affray related to a nightclub fight in February 2023. Brown, 37, entered the plea Friday at London’s Southwark Crown Court, changing it from earlier denials of more serious charges. Prosecutors previously alleged he struck music producer Abraham Diaw on the head with a bottle at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, and said video captured the brawl in front of a crowd. The guilty plea led prosecutors to drop charges including assault, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon. Brown’s friend and vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded guilty to affray. The case carries a maximum of three years in prison, and Brown is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 26. After the incident, he left the UK, but was arrested in Manchester in May 2025 during a concert trip; he had been released on $6.7 million bail. The article also notes prior legal trouble dating back to 2009.
