The Great American Road Trip: 8 places to travel (and stay) to celebrate America 250 this summer

Eight destinations are highlighted for summer travel to celebrate America's Semiquincentennial. Philadelphia hosts June 19 through July 4 celebrations, including six days of fireworks and a free concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, The Roots, and more; a historic site reopens July 1 after decades. In Boston, a yearlong program features a Fourth of July fireworks display along the Charles River Esplanade and the return of tall ships to Boston Harbor. Lodging tips include an Italian American boutique property in Philadelphia's Old City and a Revolution 250 package at a Boston hotel. The National Mall will host an INDYCAR street race on Aug. 22–23 on a 1.7-mile course.
