Top club battles ticket abuse: fans now call for protests

Manchester United has suspended 685 season ticket holders after a review found “unusual activity” across 1,617 accounts, which the club says involved significant ticketing system abuse for financial gain. The sanctions bar affected supporters from entering the stadium and using their tickets for the time being, while allowing some to avoid a full ban. More than 200 fans were able to escape a season ticket ban after contacting the club, responding, and appealing to an independent panel that included fan representatives. According to kicker, those 200+ are still barred from transferring home tickets and from buying away tickets. The club says it will release available seats to supporters on the season waiting list ahead of upcoming derby unrest.
