Trump targets International Criminal Court over Israel probe

The Trump administration has imposed new sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), aiming to weaken the tribunal as it investigates the United States and its allies, including Israel. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the measures late on October 9, shortly after South African jurist Navi Pillay received the Nobel Peace Prize. The sanctions would restrict the ICC’s access to U.S. financial services, technology companies, and the U.S. dollar, and give American companies and individuals doing business with the court six months to end those activities. Rubio said the ICC has acted beyond its authority and called it a “rogue court” in a video message.
