Tyson Foods recalled about 69,093 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip products that may contain pieces of metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Thursday. The affected chicken strips were produced on November 30, 2018, and distributed to retail locations nationwide as well as for institutional use in Michigan and Washington. Products subject to recall include 25-oz frozen plastic bag packages of specific “Tyson fully cooked” buffalo style and crispy chicken strip items, each tied to designated case codes and bag time stamps, plus 20-lb cases of a “Spare Time fully cooked” buffalo style chicken strip item with a listed case code. The packages carry establishment number P-7221. FSIS learned of the issue after two consumer complaints about extraneous material. Officials reported no confirmed illnesses at the time and urged consumers to check freezers and either discard or return the products to the point of purchase.
