USSI Global: Geared Up For Upper C-Band Spectrum Transition

USSI Global is preparing for a major media-transport shift tied to the FCC’s Upper C-band spectrum transition, which begins auction rules for 160 MHz. On Wednesday, July 22, the FCC moved ahead with regulations establishing the auction by July of next year, prompting a new round of “C-band clearing.” The company, USSI Global, is a 35-year-old Space Coast broadcast technology provider based in Melbourne, Florida, and is positioning its expertise to help radio and TV operators manage the next phase. Unlike earlier reallocations of the lower 300 MHz for wireless and relocation of broadcasters, this step may force satellite users to move beyond traditional C-band infrastructure for continuity of contribution and distribution services. USSI Global engineering VP Ted Korte said every broadcaster’s network is unique and success depends on assessing performance and operational implications. CEO Anthony Morelli emphasized reducing operational risk, accelerating deployment, and ensuring uninterrupted media distribution.
