Speaking ahead of the season opener against Hamburger SV, Kovač had framed Serhou Guirassy as Dortmund’s “number one,” but Silva’s Champions League form against Villarreal has changed the conversation. Silva and Guirassy praised each other after the win. Kovač said Dortmund can play effectively with one or two strikers, and highlighted what it could mean if Silva sits alongside Guirassy. The Portuguese forward had been linked with a potential move this summer, reportedly starting around €20 million, after being signed for €22.5 million from Wolves last year. According to Sky, he rejected interest from Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal, instead aiming to establish himself at BVB, while also potentially blocking Jamie Leweling’s move to Dortmund.
