Where Sami Pajari can improve after WRC title near miss

Sami Pajari said he knows where to improve after coming within six points of winning his first FIA World Rally Championship title in Sardinia. Driving a Toyota, the 24-year-old entered the title-deciding event as the closest challenger to champion Elfyn Evans, trailing by 17 points, but finished the year third behind rally winner Oliver Solberg. Pajari and co-driver Marko Salminen delivered their ninth podium in 13 rounds, including a maiden WRC win in Estonia and back-to-back victories in Finland and Paraguay. While disappointed, Pajari pointed to progress in only his second full-time season at the top level.
