Woman had 'bad feeling' about holiday with boyfriend - she was right

Owen Dodd was sentenced after a judge described him as a “controlling bully” for abusing his girlfriend on the first night of a holiday to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Prosecutors said Dodd repeatedly punched and kicked Letitia Horne as they returned to their accommodation, with the attack only stopping after he was confronted by a group of men. At Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, the court heard Dodd and Horne met through friends and began a relationship in December 2024. Despite warning signs during a Mexico trip in February 2025—where the pair drank heavily and fought—Dodd later took Horne to Tenerife, where she said he bit her cheek in a nightclub. He then smashed a bottle, threatened her family, and injured her before the night ended.
