Xerri meets with a new rival club after another Bulldogs demotion
Bronson Xerri’s future at Canterbury is looking increasingly uncertain after he was dropped from the starting lineup again for round 17, marking another exit-linked scenario for the Bulldogs centre. Reports from Fox Sports say Xerri has held talks with Parramatta and Melbourne in recent weeks, with the Eels now viewed as growing favourites to sign the speedster. The 24-year-old’s relationship with Canterbury has been strained this season after coach Cameron Ciraldo demoted him to reserve grade; he was reportedly denied a requested release. He was overlooked again in the Bulldogs’ Round 16 win over Manly and has been named only on the extended bench versus the Titans. Despite being contracted until end of 2027, Canterbury are reportedly open to an early move as the June 30 transfer deadline approaches, alongside broader roster reshaping. Links to Penrith outside back Jesse McLean also add pressure to Xerri’s long-term prospects.
