Yanga sign Sh5.5 billion deal for 12-storey club house
Young Africans (Yanga) has signed a Sh5.5 billion contract with Chinese construction firm Group Six to develop a 12-storey commercial building at the junction of Mafia and Nyamwezi streets in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. Club president Hersi Said said construction will start under the agreement and is expected to be completed within 12 months, as Yanga looks to transform the long-standing property into a significant source of commercial revenue. Yanga partnered with Azania Bank as its financial partner for the project after a tender process. The property has historic significance for the club: Yanga acquired it in 1964 after raising Sh13,000 through a friendly match against Kenya’s Abaluhya, now AFC Leopards. The immediate challenge will be delivering on schedule and ensuring returns.
