The Yankees, in a rare offensive night with only three hits total, had all three go for extra bases. Ben Rice added a homer, and Cam Schlittler (9-5) delivered eight dominant innings allowing one run on four hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Tampa Bay’s Richie Palacios went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, and Chandler Simpson also scored after extending his hitting streak to nine games. Griffin Jax retired the first 13 batters before losing control in the fifth, allowing walks that preceded Caballero’s three-run blast.
