Amazon is bringing drone delivery back to California

Amazon plans to restart drone delivery in California, with service in Tracy expected to deliver packages in as little as 30 minutes. The company is preparing to launch Prime Air there as part of an expansion aimed at bringing delivery drones to 500 cities and towns by the end of the year. Prime Air already operates in 11 communities including San Antonio, Baton Rouge and Kansas City. Amazon previously tested drones in California’s Lockeford area in 2022, and drone delivery ended about a year later before returning within a month. The program is authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration and drones fly at 250 to 400 feet, carrying shoebox-sized items up to 5 pounds.
