Asda announces change to all Express stores in the UK
xCruzo Brief
Asda has completed the installation of electronic price labels across all 517 of its UK Express shops, replacing more than 120,000 paper labels every week. The rollout covers 1.2 million shelf-edge labels and follows an investment of more than £7.5 million. Asda says the change removes the need for staff to update prices manually, freeing up time to serve customers and help maintain store standards. The labels also present pricing, unit costs, weights and promotions, with extra ingredient and allergen details for some items such as bakery products. Asda is also trialling shelf-edge availability cameras in five larger stores and plans to expand the technology.
