Asian shares are mixed, with Kospi up 3% after US stocks rally on strong earnings
xCruzo Brief
Asian markets were mixed Wednesday as Japan and South Korea rallied after a broad lift on Wall Street tied to strong earnings. In Seoul, the Kospi rose 3.3% to 5,735.66, helped by rebound trading in Elice, an AI company that had dropped 32% on Tuesday in its debut and hit the 29.9% upside limit on Wednesday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.9% to 64,621.24 after exports jumped 16.7% in September year-on-year, while imports surged 18.9%. The increase was linked to higher oil prices, including effects from the Iran war. In China, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.7% and Shanghai slipped 0.6%, while Taiwan’s Taiex rose 1.3%.
