Atlanta Braves Shifting Focus In Starter Market With Tarik Skubal Off The Board
After Tarik Skubal was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves have reportedly shifted their trade focus to another Detroit starter. Skubal’s move, finalized with three prospects going to Detroit, removed the left-hander from the Braves’ target list and left them just over 24 hours to make another push before the deadline. Per Pat Ragazzo of Athlon Sports, Atlanta has expressed strong interest in Tigers right-hander Casey Mize. Detroit signaled its stance by scratching Mize from a Friday start against the Athletics as a non-injury precaution. This season, Mize owns a 2.70 ERA in 16 starts and a 2.9 fWAR, but he’s missed time with groin and other issues. Mize is set to become a free agent after the season.
