Bitcoin Briefly Dips Below US$77K as Binance Hack Rattles Markets
Bitcoin briefly slipped below $77,000 as a Binance hack rattled crypto markets, even as spot Bitcoin ETFs kept drawing money. ETFs recorded $440.8 million in net inflows over four consecutive days, led by BlackRock’s IBIT with $410.6 million. After dipping below $80,000, BTC rallied early Friday to $81,771, but quickly reversed and fell 6.55% to $76,418 by lunchtime in Australia. It had recovered modestly to $78,488 at the time of writing. The broader market fell too, with total market cap down 2.8% to $2.59 trillion. Ethereum (-3.56%), BNB (-5.11%) and XRP (-3.2%) were also lower. Hyperliquid’s HYPE was the exception, up 17%, tied to an announced ICE partnership for US-regulated perpetual futures using Hyperliquid infrastructure. Chainalysis estimated at least $5.9 billion stolen; Binance says user funds are safe.
