Canal+ Posts Big H1 Gains Thanks To $2B Deal For Africa's MultiChoice

Canal+ reported big gains in the first half, helped by its $2 billion acquisition of Africa’s MultiChoice. Unaudited group revenue rose 40% to €4.29 billion ($4.88 billion), while adjusted EBIT jumped 68% to €433 million, lifting the margin to 10.1%. Without MultiChoice, growth would have been much lower—1.4% for revenue. Canal+ said it hit €250 million of synergies from the MultiChoice takeover and is on track to meet full-year targets. The company also disclosed it pledged over €980 million to French and European cinema over five years and confirmed upgrades to its Studiocanal slate.
