xCruzo Brief
Crypto-focused super PACs spent heavily in the 2026 U.S. midterms, but their biggest effort ended in defeat in Ohio’s Senate race. Democrat Sherrod Brown beat Republican Jon Husted despite a $64 million campaign aimed at stopping him. According to NBC figures, Brown received 2.24 million votes (about 49.7%) versus Husted’s 2.06 million (45.5%) with 97.3% counted. The Digital Freedom Fund spent $7.5 million against Brown, building on $56.5 million from Fairshake. Fairshake is funded mainly by Coinbase, along with venture firm Andreessen Horowitz and Ripple. The losses also spread to Texas, Alabama, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
