Cumbria Tourism opens west Cumbrian office to support visitor economy

Cumbria Tourism has opened a new office in West Cumbria, aiming to strengthen the visitor economy and highlight the region’s coastal, cultural and heritage assets. The move supports a five-year coastal programme focused on making the area more attractive to live, work, visit and invest, driving long-term economic diversification and regeneration. The programme was launched Thursday, September 3, through a multi-agency partnership with Sellafield’s Decommissioning Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP) framework. Based at The Bus Station in Whitehaven, a small delivery team will handle skills outreach, recruitment and business support, alongside promotion through further development of the Cumbria Coastal Route. The programme also targets more year-round career options to reduce reliance on the nuclear supply chain.
