Dow Jumps To Highest Closing Level In A Month, Nasdaq Edges Slightly Higher
xCruzo Brief
Stocks rebounded Thursday after a weaker start, with the Dow closing at its highest level in a month. The index jumped 556.21 points, or 1.1%, to 52,177.69, helped by strong gains from Nike, Salesforce, and Home Depot. The S&P 500 rose 25.12 points, or 0.3%, to 7,744.06, while the Nasdaq, after spending most of the session in negative territory, ended up 20.16 points, or 0.1%, at 26,713.03. Early pressure came as tech stocks continued sliding amid concerns about the outlook for the AI trade. The turnaround was supported by sharply lower Treasury yields, even after hotter-than-expected U.S. producer price data for September. Overseas, Asia-Pacific markets fell, including South Korea’s Kospi (-7.6%).
