Easing oil prices help send stocks higher at the end of a record-setting week
xCruzo Brief
Lower oil prices helped lift U.S. stocks as the market closed out a record-setting week, though trading remained cautious. Early Friday, the S&P 500 rose 0.3% and regained part of its losses from two straight down sessions since it set an all-time high. The Dow added 82 points, while the Nasdaq climbed 0.6%. Oil’s volatility—driven by uncertainty over when the Iran conflict will normalize global energy—fed a back-and-forth in Treasury yields. Brent fell 1.2% to $103.01 a barrel and U.S. crude dropped 0.9% to $90.69. Delta slid more than 4% before the open after missing profit targets and raising fuel-cost pressure.
