London’s FTSE 100 is expected to open slightly higher on Monday as investors weigh new U.S. pressure on Iran, elevated bond yields and mixed commodity signals. The index closed Friday up 0.6% at 10,816.56, supported by miners and other resource stocks. Gold rose 0.8% to around US$4,645 an ounce, aided by a softer dollar and safe-haven demand. Brent fell about 1.5% to roughly US$93 a barrel ahead of additional U.S. measures aimed at Iran, which could pressure BP and Shell while offering some relief for airlines and retailers. Markets are also watching for possible Iranian retaliation that could affect shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In Asia, stocks were mostly lower, with South Korea’s Kospi down 3.5% after Samsung dropped sharply.
