Global Grew Revenue 10% and Still Missed on Earnings. Except, Maybe It Didn't.
S&P Global’s Q2 results showed revenue growth but an earnings miss that unsettled investors, prompting the company to dial back full-year guidance and pushing the stock down. Total revenue rose 10% to nearly $4.15 billion, beating analysts’ estimate of $4.11 billion, but per-share earnings of $4.12 came in below consensus. S&P Global also lowered its guidance for sales and profit for 2026, citing slower growth in its energy markets information business, which posted 3% year-over-year revenue growth in the quarter. However, the report notes potential confusion due to S&P Global’s July 1 spin-off of its Mobility Global unit. The company provided both pre- and post-spinoff results on GAAP and non-GAAP bases, and the adjusted operating profit increased 15% to $1.998 billion.
