GoFundMe raises over $400K for family of slain business owner Lorenzo Salgado Araujo
A GoFundMe for the family of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo has raised more than $400,000 to support his wife and three sons after his death in Houston. Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old husband, father of three, and small business owner, was killed on July 7 by a federal immigration enforcement agent, according to the report. ICE said an officer fired in self-defense that morning as the investigation continues. By Friday evening, the Salgado Araujo Family GoFundMe—organized by the family and the LULAC Institute—had collected more than 9,400 donations, reaching about 83% of its $500,000 goal. Organizers said the funds will cover funeral and burial expenses, legal costs, and everyday living expenses. The fundraiser remains active as donations continue. The effort follows protests reported after Salgado Araujo was fatally shot.
