How Grocery Chain 99 Ranch Market Is Expanding Amid a Growth in Asian Cuisine
99 Ranch Market, a 42-year-old Asian grocery chain, is expanding as demand for Asian cuisine grows in the U.S. The company, which sells ingredients spanning Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese cuisines, launched its first cookbook, “Did You Eat Yet?”, this month. The book includes 88 recipes and personal stories from employees, including CEO Alice Chen, and also features information on Asian condiments, herbs and ingredients. Looking ahead to 2027, 99 Ranch plans to grow ecommerce and add physical locations. It operates 66 stores with in-store pickup and same-day delivery of more than 12,000 products, including live fish, lobster and crab. Two new stores are planned in Chicago and Phoenix, and the chain is testing concept formats such as one in New York City.
