How Tottenham's transfer window shows big WSL ambitions

Tottenham have moved decisively in the transfer market as they set their sights on bigger ambitions in the Women’s Super League next season. The club finished fifth in the WSL in 2024-25, a clear step up after flirting with relegation the year before. This summer Spurs broke their club-record signing, bringing in France defender Alice Sombath from Lyon, following January spending of around £375,000 on Signe Gaupset. Tottenham also signed Shekiera Martinez and Kirsty Hanson, Caitlin Dijkstra, Victoria Pelova and goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen. Manager Martin Ho has been working from a 12-month recruitment plan, securing key targets in January and again this summer before the window closes on 3 September, aiming to build a squad able to challenge the league’s best and compete in Europe.
