Huawei Is Going To Trial In The U.S. The Case Has Been Building For Eight Years.

Huawei goes on trial in New York nearly eight years after U.S. prosecutors first charged the Chinese company with misleading banks about its Iran business. Jury selection begins Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn before Judge Ann Donnelly. Huawei has pleaded not guilty and the trial is expected to last about three months. The government case includes allegations tied to using Skycom Tech to obtain U.S.-origin goods and technology in Iran while allegedly misrepresenting the relationship to financial institutions. Prosecutors also accuse Huawei of sanctions violations, money laundering, wire and bank fraud, obstruction, and racketeering. A 2020 superseding indictment adds trade-secret theft allegations and claims related to surveillance equipment in Iran.
